Sofia Aptosoglou (Sofia Aptos) is a Greek, self taught naif artist, completing more than 10 years of expression through painting and mosaic work. With a Ph.D. in Biology, member of a family of self-taught painters, member of the Association of Visual Artists in Northern Greece (SKETBE), and of Pocono Arts Council in Pennsylvania near her U.S. family, she gets inspired by aspects of nature, life, humanity and emotion, depicted with pure vivid colours in the artworks.
Art participations include more than 150 group and solo exhibitions in Greece, Europe, Japan, Argentina, Cuba, Mexico and United States. Her mosaic work “Gardens of Water and Light” was recently approved for participation in ITSLIQUID International Fair of Art and Architecture in Venice Italy. In summer 2022 she received an honorary mention from Pocono Arts Council PA, for acrylic work “Life Interactions”, inspired from Photosynthesis.
Latest participations include: Pocono Arts Council Annual Members Exhibition and “Small Works” exhibition, “Love and Sea” by curator D.Lazaro on Andros Island Greece, Artivism’s Art for a Purpose Multi Venue exhibition Spring 2022 and in 2023 Wearable Art for a Purpose Multi Venue Exhibition, Greek refugee state inspired art events in Greece in 2022, Mail Art exhibitions for world environmental concerns in Argentina, art exhibition for a good purpose in Brisbane Australia, and “40 Year Anniversary” Exhibitions of Visual Artists Association (SKETBE) at her hometown Thessaloniki. Some of her works are present in art galleries’ permanent collections in Greece, Spain, and in private collections in Europe, United States and Australia.
