I am an oil landscape painter whose appreciation for big sky began in Florida and deepened during time in the Midwest. Living in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic has provided inspiration in the lushness of trees, fields and surrounding mountains.
I work both in plein air and in my studio where I reference photographs I have taken over the years. My favorite times of day to depict are sunrise and sunset however blue sky and the clarity of midday light can be enchanting.
One consistent feature in my paintings is a sense of calm, even in the stormscapes. In the end, I paint scenes of places I would like to sit and stay a while.
