Happy December Arts Council members! My name is Michele Buzzelli, and I’m the new Membership & Data Manager. This brand-new position was created with the sole purpose of keeping the needs of you, our members, in mind. I am focused on designing/updating our membership registry, streamlining contact through our renewal process, and being a reliable point of contact for our membership community.
While I officially joined the team at the start of our fiscal year on October 1st, many of you may recognize me from running around the Arts Council offices and behind the scenes at special events since early 2018.
Growing up in Stroudsburg in an arts-centric family, I knew very early the value that the Pocono Arts Council provided the community. One of my first art classes was with Marilyn Cooper in the late 1990s. That class made so much of an impact on my family that charcoal sketches she did of me during those few weeks hung in my grandparents’ living room until they passed.
I can happily say that I’ve never lived in a world where the arts are insignificant. I also teach in the Public Health and College Success departments at Northampton Community College, and I work with my students on a regular basis to recognize the artistic beauty that surrounds us on a daily basis. Whether we see it or not, there is beauty in problem solving – in human interaction.
In addition to working with the Arts Council and teaching with Northampton, I’m also a certified yoga instructor and teach stressreduction yoga for Fitzmaurice Community Services employees and bartend at RAW winery on weekends. I’m also a complete bookworm, so in my free time I’m usually curled up with a book and my 9-year-old rescue dog, Mocha.
