On May 4th, it’s time to Spring for the Arts! This year’s event will be held at Stroudsmoor Country Inn’s brand new pavilion and the theme of the evening will be A Night at the Kentucky Derby, so get your colorful outfits and hats ready! There will be a people’s choice award for the most creative attire! Food will include Kentucky’s famous burgoo along with southern style picnic fare. Each guest (21 and over) will receive one complimentary mint julep to add to the festive atmosphere.
Dr. Sherwood Samet’s “The Last Picture Show” will be featured in the Auradell Gallery at Stroudsmoor with all proceeds benefiting the Pocono Arts Council. Also on exhibit that evening will be the work of James Gloria.
NEW this year, we will launch our new Online Auction featuring artwork, entertainment, experiences, and items available for your bidding pleasure from May 1-25. East Stroudsburg High School North Chorale and Eleve Dance Theater will provide live entertainment. Fun raffles and games will round out the evening.
As PoconoArts has in the past, there will be awards and scholarships during the course of the evening. Local artist James Smeltz will receive the lifetime achievement award (posthumously), and there will be a live auction for one of Jim’s paintings. Other awards given that evening will include Emerging Artist Awards. Finally, two graduating high school seniors will receive Suzanne Anderson Scholarships to pursue their visual art and music studies at the college level.
