If you’ve attended any exhibitions at the Pocono Arts Council or at Origins Gallery in the past couple of years then you already know Jane Mayhew MacHale. She’s the young lady enthusiastically taking photographs, capturing each and every moment with a clear lens and a steady hand. Many of her finest shots are posted on Facebook and shared by many. And she does it simply for her love of art!
This passion doesn’t just manifest itself in her photography. Jane, an East Stroudsburg resident since 1988 and a member of the Pocono Photo Club, is also a rising star with the paintbrush. Studying under the talented and respected Jim Smeltz, she has been developing a style of her own which has been well received in our local art galleries. In fact, her acrylic painting “Sycamore in Snow” was one of fifteen works chosen for exhibition and auction at PoconoArts’ May 5th “Spring for the Arts Celebration of the Next Generation of Art”. The Pocono Arts Council is proud to name Jane as May’s “Emerging Artist”.
Born and raised in New Jersey, this now single mother of two was sketching cartoon characters and animals when she was only four years old. Her talent grew in elementary school and throughout high school and it was no surprise that she found herself studying Advertising Design at Trenton State University.
Her art was put in low gear while she raised her two children and now that she finds herself with more free time she has immersed herself in the local art scene, spending much of her time at Origins Gallery which is now located within the Pocono Arts Council.
Success in the art world is not just measured by talent at hand. Attitude is a much needed component to that success. And the bright and personable Jane Mayhew MacHale has what it takes. Her optimism and enthusiasm is unmatched. Combined with her talent she can look forward to a bright future in our world of art!
