To the Members and Friends of the Arts Community:
Summer festival season is here! We started our season on July 6 in Courthouse Square in downtown Stroudsburg with 30 artisans exhibiting and selling their work at the 2nd annual Stroudsburg Arts Festival. The Festival of Wood, now in its 15th year, will be held at beautiful Grey Towers in Milford, PA, August 3-4, and we conclude with the beloved Pocono State Craft Festival held at Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm, August 24-25.
We hope you will attend and support the many fine artists and craftspeople from our area and get a jump-start on your holiday shopping! In other news, the Pocono Arts Council has partnered with Street to Feet to provide an arts experience to their clients. Board members and member volunteers will be assisting Kate Croll and her team by providing guidance and instruction to Street to Feet clients, allowing access to a new therapeutic leisure activity designed to bolster self-esteem. This initiative is part of our ongoing effort to remain viable in our community, following the move to 701 Main Street, Stroudsburg.
Our next exhibition will be an En Plein Air experience entitled “Local Inspiration-including downtown Stroudsburg.” Bring your blank canvas to the council office on August 16-17 for a date stamp and spend the next two weeks capturing the beauty and vitality of our region. The exhibition will be held at Stroudsmoor’s Auradell Gallery during the late summer into fall.
Our final exhibition in 2019 will be our annual Photography Exhibition to be held in November at the Pocono Cinema in East Stroudsburg. You can find a prospectus for these exhibitions in the office and on our website. The PA Partner in the Arts grant cycle is in full swing with panel meetings for award selection scheduled for mid-August. Finally, our Spring for the Arts party and art auction was a fun celebration and a rousing success. Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and donated items to the auction fundraiser (see a photo recap in the body of the newsletter).
Summer office hours are by appointment. If you haven’t paid a visit to tour our new location, please call or email to be sure someone is available.
For the love of the arts,
Susan Randall

Please Note: In order to cut costs, we have discontinued the paper mailing of the PoconoArts monthly newsletter (unless you have specifically requested a paper copy). You will receive a link to the current newsletter to your email on file, AND you can always access current and past issues on our website at http://poconoarts.org/news/newsletter/. Paper copies will also be available in the office. Analyzing our current economic reality forces us to streamline and realize cost savings wherever possible. We are jumping on the digital bandwagon. A lot of effort goes into producing the newsletter, including monthly updates and listings to help you plan your cultural activities, upcoming calendar events, exhibitions, workshops, and community opportunities. We hope you use this curated service to support artists, arts organizations, and local business in our communities. We appreciate your membership and support!
