Outstanding baritone Thomas Meglioranza (with accompanist Reiko Uchida) will delight us with selections from Charles Ives (“Down East”), Ruth Crawford Seeger (“Five Songs,” poems by Carl Sandburg), and the beloved parlour music of Carrie Jacobs Bond (“I Love You Truly”), and more. These songs overflow with beauty, humor, and heartache, and have an appeal that is uniquely American.

World-class pianist Terrence Wilson, who has performed as soloist with leading symphony orchestras in the U.S. and abroad and in major music halls and festivals across the U.S., will present an exciting mix of Bach (English Suite), early 20th century composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s arrangements of ‘Negro Spirituals,’ an extra by jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal (“My Flower”), and more.
Vision Duet: Ariel Horowitz (violin) & Britton-Rene Collins (percussion), Sat., Aug. 14, 3 & 5 p.m. (Indoor Concert). Young artists, Ariel Horowitz and Britton-Rene Collins, in the unique program “GENRE-FICATION,” an exploration of musical genres and sonic possibilities for violin and marimba. The program includes fascinating duo arrangements—works by Bach (Sonata for Violin and Keyboard, Violin Partita in D minor), Piazzolla (History of Tango), and Sheridan Seyfried (“Blues Train”), plus their own compositions.
Alkemie, early music ensemble, “Florilegium,” Sat., Aug. 21, 3 & 5 p.m. (Outdoor Concert). Early Music ensemble Alkemie & Friends returns with a highly original program “Florilegium: Plant Strains Across the English Channel,” exploring 16th century music from England, France, and the Low Countries. The six singers in this group are also proficient instrumentalists, playing lute, medieval harp, recorder, dulcian, harmonium, guitar, and melodica. Music by Wilbye, Holborne, Isaac, Clemens non Papa, as well as their own compositions.
