ADULT: Intermediate Watercolor Painting

Come join us in this ongoing watercolor journey and discover the flexibility of this wonderful medium. We will cover composition, form, shapes and definitely color!!! Students can work from photos that they have taken or utilize the still life that will be set up during each workshop. A very free approach will be explored where your creativity takes wing. Instructor: Instructor: Iraina Caramelli graduated from the Parsons School of Design in NYC. She also studied fine and graphic arts at Pratt Institute. She works in a number of mediums including mixed media, acrylics, watercolor, pen and ink and pastels. Iraina is listed in the Who’s Who of American Women.

One Evening, April 19, Wednesday, 6:30-8:30pm
This workshop is open to any media, acrylic, watercolor and water based oils. The choice is yours! Colors of Wyeth is the focus of this evening.
Instructor: Jim Smeltz has been painting for 35 years and is experienced in acrylics, oils and watercolor. Jim paints in a loose, impressionistic style using drips and spatters to paint landscapes and colorful florals. He has exhibited in numerous shows including Bethlehem Music Fest, Marywood College Contemporary Gallery, Buck Hill Art Association and the State Theater in Easton . Sole shows include the Dutot Museum , Negila Gallery and the Ashley Scott Gallery . Jim is currently the Historian for the Pocono Mt. Art Group and is represented by many galleries in the Pocono Area.
The Creative Eye – Seeing with your Macro Lens
One Day, April 8, Saturday, 9:30-12:30pm
This course will help discover the photographer’s creative eye through the art of Macro Photography. Students will learn how to approach Macro Photography in order to capture the uniqueness of a subject through their vision. All levels of photographers are welcome. Bring along your camera, tripod and macro lenses along with instructor manuals. This workshop can be followed with a field trip to Longwoods Gardens and a subsequent workshop to work on photography from the field trip.
Instructor: Laurinda Faye Rubin is a passionate photographer who loves to share her vision with the world through the camera lens. Her inspiration and vision was developed through numerous photography workshops and classes with professional photographers and her mentor, Nancy Rotenberg. She shares her passion for photograph by teaching 4-H youth and youth living with cancer the Art of Photography. The young photographers in turn inspire her to grow, embracing the pure essence of photography.
4 weeks, April 4, 11, 18, 25, Tuesday, 6:30-8:30pm
Never taken a drawing class before? Feel rusty or simply lack confidence? This course is for you. Beginning with a simple contour, you will use line to discover a variety of shapes and forms from a still life to the human figure. The foundational and formal aspects of sketching and drawing will be demonstrated. Explore the steps in drawing from an idea to a sketch to a completed drawing.

Building a Painting
3 weeks, April 10, 17, 24, Monday, 6:30-8:30pm
In this three week workshop the focus will be how to “build a painting”. Composition, design, color, highlight and shadow will be explained. The basics of painting will be discussed so that you will be able to create your own masterpiece.
Instructor: Linda Stockman earned her Associates Degree in Marketing Art and Design from Middlesex County College in NJ. She also studied at the “ duCret School of Art” in Plainfield , NJ under several famed artists including illustrator Peter Caras and muralist Brian Townsend.
